Overview

The following program is implemented in collaboration with Heriot-Watt University, ensuring high quality of the training process and obtained knowledge. The program graduates will become professionals, able to work at international petroleum companies. The program is precisely balanced, providing solid engineering and research skills.

The following program was developed in the framework of a specialization – Petroleum Industry. Along with the Master program - Reliability of Gas Pipelines and Storage Facilities, it includes:

  1. Construction of Deep Oil and Gas Fields
  2. Development and Operation of Oil and Gas Fields
  3. Machines and Equipment in Petroleum Industry
  4. Geological and Geophysical Problems of Oil and Gas Development (the second academic year is carried out in the English language under the network collaboration with Heriot-Watt University)
  5. Reliability of Gas Pipelines and Storage Facilities

The student will be able to use the university facility, including laboratories and research centers, advanced computer classes with appropriate software  (Petrel, ECLIPSE, PIPESIM, Drilling Office, PanSystem, WellFlo, Ecrin, and others), 3D visualization room, databases with information about geophysical studies of wells,  reservoir properties, and others.

Learning output

The program was designed to equip students with necessary skills, allowing them to:

  • apply advanced methods to control the process of exploiting deposits of different hydrocarbon composition
  • project documentation depending on the stage of development, field exploration, and degree of development of reserves
  • apply a wide range of skills, including waterflooding, gathering and analyzing information about oil and gas extraction, planning and implementing petroleum field development
  • plan and conduct hydrodynamic studies of wells, interpret the results of hydrodynamic research to determine filtration characteristics of reservoirs, reservoir permeability, skin factor, average reservoir pressure, reservoir heterogeneity, and reservoir boundaries
  • integrate data of technological characteristics of wells and geological conditions, seismic data, data of geophysical logging, rock properties, and fluids to justify the results of hydrodynamic studies
  • prepare a program of analytical studies of reservoirs and apply different methodologies to control their development
  • prepare project documents, applying knowledge of national and international regulation in the appropriate fields
  • apply knowledge of modern software products for field development
