The StrAU develops control and telecommunications systems, and construction of distributed robotic systems. Currently, the StrAU designs new software and hardware, methods and algorithms for data processing, information coding for distributed information and telecommunication monitoring systems, and warning and control systems. The StrAU researchers are engaged in the development of intelligent navigation and telecommunication control systems for mobile objects and groups of objects. One launched a new Master degree program in Computer Science and Engineering, based on Master degree program upgraded jointly with Technical University of Munich (Germany), Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Russia), and Indian Institute of Technology.

The main areas of research and engineering projects:

  • Development and implementation of a geographically distributed monitoring system, alert and control systems, including public transport dispatch systems, and analytical systems for data transmission, processing, and storage;
  • Development of high-tech equipment with intelligent software control systems for precision material processing;
  • Development of technologies for processing and transmitting data in real time within the framework of the concept of intellectual deposit.

 

Expected results of the StrAU:

  • Designing of a new generation of telecommunication equipment and control systems of robotic complexes for space and hydrocosmic exploration;
  • Development of multi-level geographically distributed monitoring, alert and management systems;
  • Strengthening TPU position as a scientific and educational center for training world-class specialists in the mentioned areas.

 

Results achieved in 2016:

  • Developed algorithms for using a group of autonomous underwater vehicles. One searched and evaluated the hardware-software implementation of the developed algorithms.
  • Produced prototypes of high-speed pressure and temperature sensors capable of continuously operating and conducting measures at a depth of up to 12,000 m.
  • One carried out tests of a deep-water fluorescent analyzer of seawater elemental composition at the Institute of Marine Technology Problems Russian Academy of Science.
  • A special mathematical apparatus was developed for recognition of technical objects and underwater infrastructure under conditions of zero visibility based on data receiving from acoustic locators of an underwater vehicle.
  • Developed algorithms for steering an underwater vehicle in the conditions of interval uncertainty of parameters and perturbing action of the marine environment.
  • Founded one of the largest national laboratories of industrial robotics based on the robotic complexes KUKA.
  • Carried out an expedition on the research vessel Akademik MA. Lavrentyev in The Chaunskaya Bay near the village of Tiksi (Yakutia). The University research group conducted three missions, aimed to verify and adjust the onboard equipment of an autonomous underwater vehicle and prepared a temperature landscape map of various depths of the Laptev Sea. Based on the conducted missions the team adjusted mathematical models of the vehicle elements and units of the autonomous underwater vehicle Platforma for further use in the Far North. According to the results of numerical experiments, one proposed new methods for tuning sensitivity of the echolocation systems and carrying out descending and ascending operations of an underwater vehicle.
